Description:
Prequalification Background: Kjeller airport was established in 1912 and is one of the world's oldest active airports. 90% of the 1,100-acre property is owned by the State v/Ministry of Defence. The defense sector will eventually dispose of the property, but future land use has not been decided. Defense construction has since 2017environmentally mapped the property, and identified an area that needs measures in relation to environmental remediation. Area 5 is contaminated by PFAS after use as a fire training ground (PFAS is used in firefighting foam) and lies above a waste landfill. The northern part of the area was filled in right after the war, while the southern part has been filled in to the top60's. PFAS remediation is a priority task in Forsvarsbygg, and the remediation at Kjeller is the highest priority in 2024. This includes because the pollution surrounds a water system and has a short path to the environment.
