25/01350 Liquid handling robot
The Norwegian Marine Research Institute will invest in a new system for sample preparation to achieve a more efficient, automated one and improved sample preparation for analysis of environmental toxins and nutrients. Over 1,000 samples are analyzed each year. We currently use different manual and automated systems, such as QuEChERS with dispersive SPE, ASPEC with SPE columns and chromatographic purification using the GO-HT system. The use of ySPE purification has been shown to provide better and more efficient purification, and we will invest in a new liquid handling system with syringes, which is necessary for the use of ySPE columns. The system must be a stand-alone bench robot system including a specially adapted extraction hood, which can be connected to existing extraction/ventilation systems. The maximum length for the entire system, including hood/cupboard, must be 200 cm. The system shall include liquid injection tools with capability for pipetting liquid in the range 1 1000 yl using syringes. The robot's design should enable automatic switching between different syringes in a method without the need for manual intervention. Modules for handling larger solvent volumes should be included. The system must include all necessary tools for ySPE purification and being able to use a wide range of columns, and a wide selection of solid phase. It should also include washing stations, tray holders and trays that are necessary for cleaned samples to be stored at 4 C overnight.
