• BA-26-004-GK Consultant assistance for pre-project joint treatment plant Together with Vestre Toten municipality, Gjøvik municipality has prepared a feasibility study for future sewage solutions linked to Breiskallen RA at Raufoss and Rambekk RA in Gjøvik. The background for the study is that the State Administrator, on the basis of the EU's waste water directive and the pollution regulations, has notified stricter requirements for the discharge of municipal waste water. As a result, within a few years, large investments must be made in new or upgraded facilities /expand existing treatment plants so that the municipalities' sewage services meet these treatment requirements. The state administrator has announced a deadline for meeting the new requirements by 2031. The conclusions from the feasibility study are that there are significant costs to save to collaborate on a regional treatment plant. Against this background, the municipalities of Gjøvik and Vestre Toten have jointly decided to collaborate on upgrading and expanding a regional treatment plant. The two municipalities will now continue the work of establishing a joint treatment plant, as well as a transfer plant between the municipalities through the preparation of a preliminary project in 2026. The treatment plant will be established in connection with the existing treatment plant at Rambekk in Gjøvik municipality. The facility must meet today's cleaning requirements removal of phosphorus and organic matter and expected requirements for purification of nitrogen.
