Description:
Disposable waste workers in developing countries make a significant contribution to the fight against plastic pollution. GRID-Arendal has, in collaboration with strategic partners, developed a unique, geographically adapted capacity building tool titled Awareness & Capacity Building of Women in the Informal Recycling Sector. Toolkit for Facilitators". This innovative tool, with its distinctive features designed to enable fair restructuring for women in the soaring recycling sector, offers unprecedented options for raising awareness, empowerment and capacity building. With the support of GIZ, GRID-Arendal is planning to test the tool in Kenya, with particular focus on women in the plastic recycling sector. In this pilot project, Awareness and Capacity Building of Women in the Informal Recycling Sector: Pilot Implementation of a Toolkit in Kenya, GRID-Arendal will collaborate with local partners, including kisumu Waste Pickers Welfare Association, to conduct virtual training of local trainers on the topics of cooperativeness, capacity building, raising awareness and empowering women in the mysticism sector.
