E16 Lærdal Tunnel - Tunnel upgrade
The 24.5 km long Lærdal tunnel on E16 between Aurland and Lærdal in Vestland county will be upgraded. The tunnel does not meet all requirements in the tunnel safety regulations, and the requirements for electrical safety have changed since the tunnel was opened in 2000. There are extensive measures that must be implemented in order for the tunnel to meet the current standard requirements. It will be blasted for new accident pockets, snaps and new technical buildings for approx. Every km. 28 new technical buildings will be in place, two of these out in the day. In addition, a new ventilation tunnel will be blasted next to the old one. The old shaft ventors that are in a crossroads will be replaced and two new ones will be installed. All technical equipment must be replaced and upgraded to fulfill the current standard. Cable guides for a new technical plant will be laid behind a new concrete guide edge. Existing facilities will be in operation throughout the construction period, and when the new plant is tested and approved, the old one must be disconnected. Less repair measures will be made at the drainage plant in the tunnel, all basins will be equipped with dives, and a new sedimentation plant for washwater on both sides of the yard will be built ...
