Elderly - integration of older immigrants
The R&D project on the integration of older immigrants is divided into two parts. The first part is about newly arrived refugees, living with public assistance, which is above the age limit for having a statutory right to the introduction program, where the purpose is to obtain knowledge of how older refugees experience the settlement process, how the municipalities work with this group, what is important for good settlement of this group and what one must avoid. The second part of the announcement will turn as if older immigrants who already live in Norway. The purpose of this section will be to gain more knowledge about what is needed for this group to integrate into society and receive a dignified old age, identify measures that the politicians, IMDi and the municipalities can take to promote the integration of this group and not least bring the research field to older immigrants. Especially important here are challenges associated with older immigrants' job opportunities in a competence -demanding labor market in light of the major differences in formal competence between older immigrants and the majority population.
