Description : Norway-s International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI) has been in operation since 2008, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries. NICFI represent a central initiative within Norwegian development aid. Since the beginning of the initiative, approximately NOK 5.9 billion, has been allocated to, or through, civil society organisations. Approximately NOK 4 billion of that funding has been managed by Norad through the Civil Society Support Scheme, allocated by four rounds of competitive bidding, covering the periods 2009-12, 2013-15, 2016-20 and 2021-25.
The main purpose of this evaluation is to provide the Ministry of Climate and Environment with information that can be used to adjust Norad-s management of the civil society support scheme, improve effectiveness of the ongoing implementation of the Civil Society Support Scheme (2021 -2025) and for planning future Civil Society Support Scheme (if decided).
