Invitation to Market Dialogue - Microplast monitoring
The Environment Directorate will announce a new contract period for the Microplastics Surveillance Program in the Norwegian Environment (Micronor), with contractual duration from 2026-2030. Micronor is an analysis program for microplastics, which mainly receives samples from other of the Environment Directorate's monitoring programs. The purpose of the national monitoring of microplastics is to map the extent of microplastics pollution in the environment, as well as to identify the most important sources and supply routes to this pollution. As the field of study is rapidly developing, the Directorate wants to get an overview of which analysis methods are available in today's market. The Environment Directorate needs knowledge of the amount of microplastics in various environmental matrikes, expressed as mass of plastic polyms per volume or weight and particle number per volume or weight. In addition, the Environment Directorate wants, at least for a proportion of the samples, other characteristics of the microplastics particles, such as shape, size and polymer composition.
