• Marketing inquiry linked to tourism along the Sunnhordlands route Skyss is the mobility unit of Vestland county municipality, and is responsible for developing and operating public transport in the county. The main tasks are to plan and develop the route network and route offer, assign transport contracts for bus, boat and ferry, provide statutory school transport, inform and market travel offers and customer solutions, provide customer service and develop new and combined mobility services. The development of offers and services must be based on adopted plans and strategies, the travelers' needs and in step with changes in the industry. Skyss's budget is adopted by the county council and a framework is set for what services can be offered. Skyss prepares a new boat contract for operating the Sunnhordlands route with start in December 2030. Passenger figures for the route are fairly stable throughout the year and indicate that the majority of passengers are currently working travellers. At the same time, probably several of the boat routes' sections and departures have the potential for more tourist traffic and better capacity utilization. It is desirable to utilize any willingness to pay in the tourist market, at the same time as the price level and availability for the local population should not be weakened. We therefore need to gain more insight from the tourism industry into whether there is potential for this more tourism on these boat departures and what tools and measures may be relevant to be able to extract this potential, for example to be able to develop, combine, market and offer product specifications...
