- Mjøndalen RA secondary purification stage The Mjøndalen treatment plant was built in 1996 as a treatment plant for phosphorus removal using lime precipitation. Capacity 25,000 pe. The plant has recently modernized parts of the process - and the machine equipment. Today's facilities use Aluminum as precipitation chemical in 2025 and new capacity is 27,500 pe. The plant does not satisfy the current requirements for waste water treatment as it does not have a secondary waste treatment for the reduction of organic material from the waste water. The state administrator has ordered the municipality of Drammen at the Mjøndalen treatment plant, a connection stop due to Persistent breach of the discharge permit. The BOF5 purification in % or residual quantity several times does not reach the requirements of 70% or 25 mg/l. The requirement for secondary treatment is imposed on all treatment plants located in densely populated areas that have connections greater than 10,000 pe Mjøndalen sewage system are therefore in breach of the pollution regulations, and the area has a construction ban. In order to satisfy the authorities' requirements for necessary sewage treatment, it is desired to build what is necessary the secondary purification step in the plant.
