- Procurement of Solution for the Interim Storage of excited Nuclear Fuel
The purpose of the acquisition is to obtain a safe and flexible storage solution for temporary storage of used nuclear fuel (hereafter referred to Transport, inspection and relocation of the used nuclear fuel from the Kjeller plant and the Halden plant. Reference is made to the description in Appendix A. A program is currently underway to define a management solution for NND and Ifes used nuclear fuel. One of several options that are explored will involves sending a significant amount of the fuel for reprocessing. The probability of such a significant reduction in the supplier's scope of work is considered to be less than 30 %. If this option is chosen through necessary political processes, it will cause such fuel to be removed from Supplier's scope of work. Three scenarios have been identified about which fuel will be sent for reprocessing. These scenarios involve the removal of 10 tonnes, 11 1/2 tonnes and 16 tonnes, out of a total of 17 tonnes. A decision regarding the specification of the condition where the fuel will be transported And stored, as well as the final scope, are not expected earlier than the first half of 2027.
