Professional follow-up of the bullying ombudsman scheme in 2026
The Directorate of Education is responsible for various measures to strengthen kindergartens, schools, authorities and owners in promoting safe environments as well as preventing, uncovering and dealing with dissatisfaction, bullying and other violations. Despite extensive national investment on children and pupils' learning environment, there is still a stable number of pupils in primary and secondary school who report that they experience being bullied at school. The Norwegian Directorate of Education administers the scheme with county-wise bullying ombudsmen, which was implemented in 2017. The purpose of this scheme is to contribute to ensuring that children and pupils have their rights to a safe and good nursery and school environment safeguarded. The scheme is part-financed by the state for a temporary period 2026.
