Purkhola landfill - measures for closing ag post-operation
Building and construction measures must be carried out in connection with the closure of the landfill. The main part of the work consists of in mass handling and excavation work. The objectives for the final plan are: • Create a final surface form (approx. 8,000 m2) that is natural in the area and that provides the best possible surface runoff. Cover all waste and recreate a healthy surface environment, which can be used for outdoor purposes. • Establish a top cover which provides a reasonable degree of tightness against infiltration of precipitation into the landfill and thus limit leachate production from the fill • Facilitate mass handling under the auspices of contractors linked to local excavated masses At the end of the landfill, approximately 135,000 tonnes of waste has been deposited. Total volume including covering materials is before closing measures approximately 175,000 m3. It is estimated that approx. 10,000 m3 of mass and excavated approx. 400 m ditch. In addition, existing leachate foam must be rehabilitated.
