Description : Bergen kommune (Bergen Municipality) has an external sludge treatment plant, Bergen biogassanlegg (Bergen Biogas Plant), that received sewage sludge from all of the treatment plants in Bergen. The plant also received septic and fat from fat separators. The plant can also receive pre-treated food waste. Everything delivered to the plant is first pasteurised at 70 ºC for one hour. Thereafter the sludge is digested in a thermophillic process before the bio-waste is dewatered with the use of centrifuges to a dry substance percent of approx. 28 %. The Bio-waste is transferred to silos in a sealed building.
This procurement concerns transportation and further handling according to the applicable regulations and rules for sanitised and stabilised bio-waste. Great emphasis is placed on safe and robust disposal of the bio-waste, at the same time as there is a strong focus on the bio-waste being used as much as a resource in a circular perspective.
